J9's music...
'Aah Bhi Jaa' is a western fusion Bollywood love song. It features Bollywood singer Shruti Jain from Mumbai and Indian-man on guitar. It exquisitely tells of longing for a lovers return and uses western music structures and harmonies, with a jazzy feel.
'Crossroad' is a gentle Drum & Bass track featuring UK soul singer Vanessa Sylvester and Bhangra legend SHIN (from the DCS band). It smoothly moves between English to Punjabi vocals, as the lovers ask each other where to go at this crossroad in their relationship.
'Tomari' features virtuoso sitar and vocals from Sheema Mukherjee (from Transglobal Underground), which float gently over a powerful beat. J9 performs a counter melody with English lyrics.
'Get offline' is a fun protest song against online overload. Jaz Delorean (from Tankus the Henge) provides gritty vocals, supported by Hannah Browning's sweet harmonies. The rap listing the apps we all carry provides just a hint of why we need to get offline.....sometimes!
'Maybe in the next life (MITNL)' has a Bristol-meets-New York jazzy vibe. Hannah Browning's poignant vocals and James Morton's evocative saxophone tells the story of love lost....and positivley moving on. Featuring J9's cameo vocal, the last track of the album hints that there is more to come.... NACENT 2 is on the horizon.
